Cordelia (Origin: Celtic; A jewel of the sea. ) Source

At the end of Season 3 of AtS we see Skip appear to bring Cordelia back with him to the Higher Plane to become a "Higher Being". Cordy accepts this offer even though she recently realizes her true feelings for Angel, that she loves him and wants to be with him.

During the start of Season 4 we Cordy spying on Angel Investigations and all of its members from somewhere up high, with a lot of clouds. When Cordelia returns to Angel Investigations she has no memory of who she or anyone else is. After a bit of time her memory returns, but she starts to act a bit strange.

During the "end of the world", when fire rains from the sky and the sun is blocked out over L. A., Cordy decides to sleep with Connor/Stephen, Angel's son. Before this we see signs that Connor has feelings for Cordy, but she keeps him at a distance due to her feelings for his father, Angel. (see clip below Apocalypse Nowish -S4, Ep7 and Habeas Corpses -S4, Ep8) The morning after their night together she sees that the world hasn't ended. She starts to act guilty and uncomfortable and tells Connor that it was basically a mistake and because she loves Angel she can't be with Connor.

See 'The Relationship between Angel/Angelus and Connor: The Myth of Oedipus'

During the episode where Angel tries to decide if he has to lose his soul in order to become Angelus (so that the group can find out who The Beast is, why he's trying to end the world and how to destroy him) Cordy manipulates him into choosing to become Angelus.(see clip below "Awakening" - S4, Ep10) She starts by saying no to the spell to remove his soul, but with subtle word play she convinces him that it's his own choice to become Angelus.

Once Angel becomes Angelus she makes a deal with him to tell them about The Beast and how to defeat him in exchange for basically doing anything he wants to with Cordy. (See clip below "Soulless" - S4, Ep11), Angelus can't tell them anything useful and so she doesn't fulfill her end of the deal. Needless to say Angelus is angry and wants to get even.

At the very end of the episode we see Lilah trapped in the hotel running from a recently escaped Angelus who is out for blood. We see Cordelia grab Lilah by the throat, drag her into a doorway and stab her in the neck with The Beast's ornate dagger.

Lilah: He's going to kill us.
Cordelia: I know. (she stabs her in the neck) Why do you think I let him out, you stupid bitch?
Calvary (S4, Ep12)

Up to this episode it seems that Cordy has fallen. She has either been taken over by some creature and controlled or something else happened. She isn't the good Cordy we've know for so long, but an evil force. In a word, she seems to have fallen. There is a chance that she hasn't been replaced or taken control of, but that she has fallen by her own choice.

In Salvage (S4,Ep13) we find out that she is in fact The Master of The Beast. At this point it seems that what ever or whoever appeared in the hotel lobby as Cordelia must have been this evil force otherwise Cordelia was taken over a bit later on either during the memory spell or afterwards.

Angelus does one step beyond what 'Evil Cordelia' bargained for earlier on, (See clip below "Soulless" - S4, Ep11) information that would lead to the destruction of The Beast, by destroying The Beast. Angelus destroys it with its own weapon which it created from its 'body' as a token of its devotion to its master. The Evil Cordelia used this 'dagger' to kill Lilah and made it look like Angelus did. Unfortunately, for Angelus he didn't bargain on the sun reappearing. So does Angelus expect to have his way with Cordy? Well, he'll be quite surprised if he tries anything.

Huge Spoilers ahead!!!!

Later on in the season we find out that the real Cordelia did not return from being a Higher Being, but her body was hijacked by the God that later calls herself Jasmine. Jasmine is the child of Cordelia's body and Connor. Jasmine manipulated many people's paths for many years in order to create Connor (the impossible child of two vampires) and Cordelia (who became half-demon in order to be able to survive the visions from The Powers That Be). Jasmine's need to give herself a physical body that would be able to house her powerful being led her to create an impossibility, Connor, and a vessel, Cordelia, that was strong enough to carry her and give birth to her. For a time it seemed that Cordelia had become Evil Cordelia, but in fact she was pushed to the back of her mind and her body was controlled by Jasmine.

Giving birth to Jasmine destroyed Cordelia and she became a 'vegetable', an empty shell of her former self. Based on the WB's list of next season's actors and a few interviews the actress, that plays Cordelia, she will not be returning to play her again. Another White Hat dies for the 'good fight'.

ANGEL: How do we stop it?
SKIP: Well, that’s the easy part, slick. All you gotta do is find Cordelia and chop her head off.
ANGEL: Has to be another way.
SKIP: Sure. Stab her in the heart, kidney… a couple of pokes in the lung.
ANGEL: A way that won’t kill Cordy in the process.
SKIP: It takes a whole lotta crammin’ to get that much sweetness into a human. It’s in every hair, every cell, every molecule of Cordelia’s body, and it ain’t letting go until it’s got a brand new bag.
FRED: What happens to Cordy then?
SKIP: Drained of her life force during labor. Those contractions are a real bitch.
ANGEL: It’ll kill her?
SKIP: Or she’ll end up a head of cabbage.

Angel: I think she's one of Cordelia's group. People called them the Cordettes. A bunch of girls from wealthy families. They ruled the high school. Decided what was in, who was popular. It was like the Soviet Secret Police if they cared a lot about shoes.

Connor and Cordelia Sleep Together

Cordelia and Connor watch in stunned horror and amazement as a massive column
of fire rises up into the clouds and disappears. Seconds later, comets of fire begin
to rain down over the entire city.

CONNOR:What’s happening?
CORDELIA:I don’t know.
CONNOR:It’s him, isn’t it? It’s that thing.
CORDELIA:We don’t know that.
CONNOR:I should have tried harder. I should have stopped it.
CORDELIA:It was too strong. This isn’t your fault.
CONNOR:What if it is? What if that thing is— it chose the place where is was born. Is that why it’s here? Because of me?
CORDELIA:No…
CONNOR:I was never supposed to happen… the child of two vampires. What if—
CORDELIA:Connor. It’s not you.
CONNOR:You don’t know that.
CORDELIA:Yes, I do. In my heart. (strokes his cheek) It’s not you, baby. It’s not you. Not you…
She leans in and tentatively kisses him, he responds, the kiss growing more passionate. After a moment, she pulls pack.
CONNOR:Why… why did you?
CORDELIA:Because I don’t think it matters anymore. I know how you feel about me, Connor. When I think about what you’ve… you never had a childhood or family or friends or anything that’s real. And if this is the end, I want you to have something that is.
She embraces him and pulls his arms around her. Their lips meet again and their passion mounts.
Connor lies in bed with Cordelia, making love to her. She kisses him tenderly as he moves rhythmically on top of her.
Exterior city building rooftop at night.
Pan up from the museum window where Cordelia and Connor are having sex to reveal Angel on the roof of the adjacent building, watching them, a blank and unreadable expression on his face.

Apocalypse Nowish (S4, Ep7)

The Los Angeles night sky is filled with flaming meteors as they plummet to earth. ANGEL stands on the rooftop amidst the fiery spectacle and looks down through the windows of the building next door, watching in stunned silence as CORDELIA and CONNOR make love.
His rage silently builds and, after a moment, he turns away and walks to the stairwell. With a cry of rage, a punches the door off its hinges and walks in. Sounds of destruction emanate from within as he takes his anger out on the building itself.

(...)
Sun streams in the windows. Cordelia and Connor lie in bed, sound asleep. Cordelia’s eyes open and go wide with shock when she sees Connor sleeping next to her. She turns away from him, realizing the implications of what they did the night before.
Connor wakes up a moment later and snuggles up next to her. He kisses her shoulder and smiles.

CONNOR:Morning. Did the world end?
CORDELIA:Not exactly.
CONNOR:So that’s a good thing.
CORDELIA:Don’t do that.
CONNOR:Do what?
CORDELIA:That. The look. The happy puppy look. Makes it harder.
CONNOR:Makes what harder?
CORDELIA:You’re very special, Connor. Last night will always be special. It’s something we both needed… but it happened because of unusual circumstances. You understand what I’m saying?
CONNOR:Yeah, that it was special.
CORDELIA:That it can’t happen again.
CONNOR:But… why?
Cordelia sighs and sits up, holding the sheets up to cover her nakedness.
CORDELIA:You’re Angel’s son. It rained fire last night— never a good sign— and a giant demony beast crawled out from the earth where you were born.
CONNOR:You think it’s my fault.
CORDELIA:No! I told you last night I didn’t. I said—
Connor gets out of bed, angry, and starts dressing.
CONNOR:Yeah, you said a lot of things last night. You said that it didn’t matter anymore… that we were real.
CORDELIA:And I meant them.
CONNOR:Yeah, then. Today it’s all my fault. The fire, demon… all of it!
CORDELIA:Don’t be… look, all I said was—
CONNOR:That I can’t be with you.
He stares at her for a beat, then grabs his shirt and leaves.

CORDELIA:Connor…
The door slams shut.

Habeas Corpses (S4, Ep8)

Cordelia manipulates Angel

Angel silently stares up at the black sun as Cordelia comes out and sits beside him.
CORDELIA:They’re all going to die. The flowers, plants, trees. Without sun. Just realizing. Angel says nothing and moves away from her.
CORDELIA:I just came to say that… I’m on your side. Angelus is the jumbo family-size bad of bad ideas. He’d be a danger to all of us. You made the right call. Wesley, the others… they, don’t get it.
ANGEL:But you do.
CORDELIA:Well, if I didn’t when Angelus was loose and killing in Sunnydale, then reliving his past horrors in virtual widescreen sensurround during my tenure in Floatyville, pretty
makes me an expert.
ANGEL:Right. Do you… do you think Connor’s right? That I’m being used by the Beast without even knowing?
CORDELIA:No.
ANGEL:Are you just saying that?
CORDELIA:Yes. I don’t know, Angel. It’s possible.
ANGEL:Well, if I am, then I’m already a danger to you. All of you.
CORDELIA:Well, not like Angelus would be. I mean, he’s… he’s smart.
ANGEL:Excuse me?
CORDELIA:Well… you know what I mean.
ANGEL:You’re saying Angelus is smarter than me.
CORDELIA:No! You’re smart. He’s just…
ANGEL:Ingenious.
CORDELIA:But in that twisted, sadistic, ruthless kind of way.
ANGEL:Like the Beast.
CORDELIA:Yes, exactly. They think alike. Always a step or two ahead of us. I mean, what is it about evil that jacks up the IQ points? It’s like whenever… (off his look) What?
Angel abruptly stands up and goes back inside.
CORDELIA:Angel?
Angel has decided to go through with the plan and become Angelus.

"Awakening" (S4, Ep10) from Angel

The Secret is Out

GUNN:We don’t have to—
CORDELIA:No, I’m okay.
FRED:Like you said, just little bitty bits of truth twisted all up into lies.
ANGELUS:(on cam) Which do you think is worse, Wes? Stealing my kid like you did or banging him… like Cordelia? All that bumpin’ and grindin’, fire raining in the sky… quite a picture. Well, more of a snapshot, ’cause Connor…
He chuckles and Fred looks at Gunn, confused.
FRED:Well, now that’s just ridiculous. Connor’s Angel’s son. It would be like sleeping with your own…
Cordelia just stares at the monitor as Lorne motions for Fred to stop.
FRED:(realizes) Oh…
ANGELUS:(on cam) At least you thought you were doing the right thing. Hey, who’s a guy gotta kill to get a drink around here, huh?
Cordelia looks up as Connor enters, beaten and bloody.
CORDELIA:Connor, what happened? Are you all right?
CONNOR: They’re coming from all over. Too many to fight.
He notices Gunn and Fred staring at him.
CONNOR:What?
Wesley enters.

"Soulless" (S4, Ep11) from Angel

Connor looks up from changing his clothes as Cordelia enters with a shirt for him.
CORDELIA:Hope you like black.
CONNOR:Thanks.
He takes it and puts it on, noticing how big it is.
CONNOR:This is his.
CORDELIA:(smiles)Well, if you don’t like it, I could ask Lorne.
CONNOR:It’s fine.
He starts to strap on his wrist-stake.
CORDELIA:You’re not going back out.
CONNOR:Somebody has to.
CORDELIA:Connor, you’re exhausted. You said yourself there are too many—
CONNOR:I want to get out of here, okay? Everybody still looks at me like I’m the one who’s connected to the Beast.
CORDELIA:No. The looking earlier, that wasn’t about the Beast. It was because of us. Angelus said some things… about the night we… you know. The weirdness is because everyone knows.
CONNOR:Good.
CORDELIA:Connor…
CONNOR:Angel doesn’t care if everyone knows. Why should I?
CORDELIA(firm)It’s not Angel. (beat) Anyway, you should get some rest.
She turns to go.
CONNOR:You don’t want to be with me, fine. You’re not. But don’t tell me what to do.
She hesitates, then walks out, closing the door behind her.

"Soulless" (S4, Ep11) from Angel

Cordelia tries to bargain with Angelus

ANGELUS:Cordy, Cordy, Cordy… just couldn’t stay away.
She walks down the stairs and stands before him.

CORDELIA:It’s been a long day and I think you’ve done enough damage.
ANGELUS:So… no hug?
CORDELIA:You and I are going to make a deal.
ANGELUS:Tough. Did you practice that in front of the mirror a few times? Let me guess. You want to know about the Beast?
CORDELIA:Everything you know.
ANGELUS:Oh. And in return, I get what? I wouldn’t mind a car. I hear the new Mustang is nice.
CORDELIA:Something better.
ANGELUS:What’s a better ride than a Mustang?
CORDELIA:Me.
Angelus stares at Cordelia through the bars.
ANGELUS:You?
CORDELIA:That’s the offer. No more stalling, no more games. You tell us what you know, you get me.
ANGELUS:Must be some confusion. You took out the soul. I still have the brain.
CORDELIA:Then use it. The Beast, the darkness… the world is falling apart. We’re out of time. We’re out of ideas. You’re the end of the line.
ANGELUS:Wes was better at buttering me up.
CORDELIA:You know what it means to be a champion.
ANGELUS:I’m trying so hard to forget.
CORDELIA:Sometimes a sacrifice needs to be made.
ANGELUS:And you’re the little lamb. Not that there aren’t a few things I wouldn’t mind doing to that body… other than the obvious.
CORDELIA:Tell us about the Beast and you can do whatever you want.
ANGELUS:You’re lying.
CORDELIA:Look in my eyes. Angel knows me. You know me. Better than anyone. So when you look at me, you know I’m not lying.
Angelus stares at her, considering.

"Soulless" (S4, Ep11) from Angel

The Beast's Master

This scene between The Beast and Evil Cordelia takes place right after The Beast and Angelus have a heated discussion. This is also th efirst time that we find out that The Beast's master is Evil Cordelia

Angelus ducks out through a panel in the roof, leaving the Beast fuming with rage.
CORDELIA: (o.s.) Well, you handled that brilliantly.
She steps out from behind a stack of crates and walks over to the Beast.
BEAST: He is not to be trusted.
Cordelia slaps him in the chest.
CORDELIA: What about you? Letting him bait you into a fight like that. I haven’t spent all this time and energy so you can mess it all up with your petty jealousies. You know Angelus is crucial to my plan.
BEAST: My apologies, my master.
CORDELIA: You need patience. He’ll come around… when he sees what I have to offer. And if he doesn’t, you can pull off his head and tear him to bits. (beat) Now give mama some sugar.
She leans up and kisses the creature passionately on the lips.

"Salvage" (S4, Ep13) from Angel

Baby Blues

Cordelia stands at the window, looking out at the sunny day, her eyes narrowed in anger. The door opens and Connor runs in.
CONNOR: Hey, isn’t it incredible?
CORDELIA: It’s… wonderful.
He closes the door, a huge smile on his face.
CONNOR: She did it. Faith. She’s… amazing.
CORDELIA: Connor…
CONNOR: I mean, I had no idea what a Slayer could do.
CORDELIA: A weakness for Slayers. You’re definitely his son.
She takes him by the hand and sits with him on the bed.
CORDELIA: Connor, we need… there’s something you need to… I don’t know how… well, I know how but…
CONNOR: What? What is it?
She smiles at him.
CORDELIA: We’re having a baby.
She lifts her shirt to reveal her swollen belly. Connor stares at her in shock.
CORDELIA: Touch it.
He tentatively reaches out and puts his hand on her abdomen.
CONNOR: But this… it’s impossible. How could—
CORDELIA: All I know is there’s a life growing inside of me and it’s ours. We’re connected now.
She caresses his face, then leans toward him and kisses him.
CORDELIA: You… and me… forever.
She pulls him close and kisses him again, more passionately this time.

"Salvage" (S4, Ep13) from Angel

SKIP: Do you really think it matters? I mean, nothing I tell you is going to change what’s going to happen.
ANGEL: Cut the doom and gloom. What’s taken over Cordy?
SKIP: Something beyond your comprehension. To give it voice would render your feeble brain into a quivering mass of—
ANGEL: Fred? Infinite agony.
Fred stands up with her spell book but Skip holds up his hand in surrender.
SKIP: Okay, you got me. It doesn’t even have a name.
GUNN: Then what do you call it?
SKIP: You know, “master” or “hey”.
LORNE: Unspeakable horror. For real this time.
ANGEL: No, it doesn’t make sense. Cordy was made a higher being because she proved herself to the Powers by bearing their visions. This thing couldn’t—
WESLEY: Unless it maneuvered her to inherit the visions in the first place.
SKIP: Uh-oh. Better step on it. The rubes are catching up.
ANGEL: It wasn’t just her ascension. Everything that’s happened to Cordy in the past few years, all of it, was planned.
SKIP: You really think it stops with her, amigo? Do you have any concept of how many lines have to intersect in order for a thing like this to play out? How many events have to be nudged in just the right direction? (to Lorne) Leaving Pylea. (to Gunn) Your sister. (to Fred) Opening the wrong book. (to Wesley) Sleeping with the enemy. Gosh, I love a story with scope.
GUNN: No way. We make our own choices.
SKIP: Yeah, sure. A cheese sandwich here, when to floss… but the big stuff, like two vampires squeezing out a kid?
ANGEL: Connor…
WESLEY: An impossible birth to make one possible.
SKIP: That’s what the kid was designed for.
LORNE: To sleep with Mother Love?
ANGEL: To create a vessel.
SKIP: Look out, the monkey’s thinking again.
ANGEL: Being inside a human makes it vulnerable, doesn’t it? That’s why it had to stay hidden. Why it needed to create something stronger to pour itself into.
GUNN: Wait, so the big nasty inside of Cordy is going to give birth to itself?
SKIP: Circle of life. It’s a beautiful thing.
WESLEY: (to Angel) What do you want to do?
SKIP: The only thing he can do. Kill the woman he loves and save the world. (to Angel) Times like this, really gotta suck being you.
ANGEL: (agonized) How do I find her? How?

FRED: What do you think he’ll do?
GUNN: What he has to, like he always does.
FRED: Will it make a difference? If we really are just pieces being moved around a board…
GUNN: Then we’ll kick it over and start a new game. Look, monochrome can yap all he wants about no-name’s cosmic plan but here’s a little something I picked up rubbin’ mojos these past couple of years: the final score can’t be rigged. I don’t care how many players you grease, that last shot always comes up a question mark. But here’s the thing— you never know when you’re taking it. It could be when you’re duking it out with the legion of doom or just crossing the street deciding where to have brunch. So you just treat it all like it was up to you, the world in the balance, ’cause you never know when it is.
FRED: (smiles) You been practicing that?
GUNN: (laughs) Little bit.

GUNN: Let’s load up.
ANGEL: No, you’re not coming, any of you. Whatever’s taken over Cordy, it’s still her inside. She’s still our friend. She’s still the woman I… I won’t let you carry that. I can’t.
SKIP: Anybody got a hanky?
FRED: He’s really going to do it. He’s going to kill Cordelia.
WESLEY: He doesn’t have a choice.
Angel takes a broadsword and heads for the door.
FRED: Angel, wait!
He turns to Fred and shakes his head, then walks out, leaving the others
in stunned silence.

SKIP: Yep. That’ll go well.
