Choosing a Site Name

I was struggling with the choice of calling this site, 'The Fallen' (btw a great film with Denzel Washington, 1998 release, about 'demons' using people as hosts) or 'Fallen Angels' and both are great names for a site. Calling it 'Fallen Angels' might make people think it's mostly about the show Angel instead of both shows, but I decided to go with that regardless because it's closer to what the characters try to be or are written as.

The idea for Fallen Angels was bubbling in my mind for a while, ever since I noticed that both the actors Alyson Hannigan (Willow) and Alexis Denisof (Whesley), other then both starting with Ws, have been dating in real life for a few years, both of their characters have 'fallen' at about the same time and this season (BtVS season7, AtS season4) both their names appear last on the credits list. Their characters development sparked the idea and then I started to see other connections.

The site was conceived during the week before I uploaded it on February 15. The design is very similar to my first fansite, Spike's Chip ,I just updated that whole site design and artwork just a week before creating this site, February 1st.

I like the theme of the war between the angels in heaven and how they feel about mankind. This theme is seen in the three part movie series, The Prophecy, which I love especially Christopher Walken playing the archangel Gabriel. The theme can also be seen in the RPG In Nomine created by Steve Jackson Games. This is the North American adaptation of the French game In Nomine Satanis/Magna Veritas by Croc (btw there is now a German translation of the French game). I actually have a license with Steve Jackson Games to create sterling silver jewelry based on the Choirs and Bands in the game.

The image of the 'falling angel' in the left nav bar is a composition of 4 different images. I used that many images in order to get the effect, as well as a couple different layer styles.

I also like the Greek myth of Daedalus and Icarus.

Okay, all that to say I like the image of a winged human falling from the sky. Layers upon layers of meaning, lessons and so on in that image from both the story of the fall of Angels (Lucifer was the most loved Angel by 'god' but he fell from favor due to his actions and fell from heaven) and Icarus.

These two stories blend well with the fall from grace of many of the characters on BtVS and AtS. Some of them struggle to redeem themselves, some succeed and others are still trying to make up for their past wrongs.

In several sections on this site you will find certain ideas, topics or Q&A repeated several times. I decided to put as many quotes as I could find on the topics that interest me. Although people get interviewed and asked the same or similar questions repeatedly, the answers are not always the same. We recall different things and might add some details. So I've collected them together to try and get some more detail.

Well if you had a chance to go over and visit my home page The Georgian' Catacombs you will notice that other then link pages it's filled with tons of quotes, songs or sayings. I've collected quotes and snippets from around me since I was in high school and I decided several years ago that in order not to loose them I'd collect them together and create a website. There is a great deal of wisdom and brilliance that can be found in the words of a person who sees life differently from ourselves. We can learn from other's experiences and insight. Quotes can make you smile, be in awe or let something finally click and make sense. Amazing things can be found in television and movies. Too often the writer is treated badly and not respected, but have a voice that must be heard and appreciated. You will notice that I have many movie and television quotes, put simply, I love movies and I read a great deal.

This site is mostly made up of quotes from interviews, online chats and question periods and articles. I think that we can learn a great deal by listening to people or experiencing the art they create. I find that when I enjoy an actor's or writer's work I like to know a bit more about them and how they think. I enjoy knowing how a TV show or movie is created and what goes on behind the scenes. So I've tried to gather together information and quotes to try and accomplish this and to learn more.
