Television Themes

Both television and film have been a strong influence in my life. Perhaps I've spent too many hours in front of the "box", who's to say.

During the late 70's on throught to the 80's I lived on: Batman (the 60's TV show), Schoolhouse Rock (a series of animated Saturday morning shorts), The Bugs Bunny and Tweety Show, The Flintstones, The Jetsons, The Andy Griffin Show, WKRP in Cincinnati, Star Trek series, The A Team, The Addams Family, Magnum P.I., Hogan's Heroes, Tour of Duty, Monty Python's Flying Circus, Moonlighting, Remington Steele, Scarecrow and Mrs. King, Twin Peaks and many, many more.

I remember running home during the summer's of elementary school to watch: Get Smart, I Love Lucy and Gilligan's Island back to back. I often sprawled in front of the TV to do my homework, I remember pretending to do some during episodes of M*A*S*H.

In the past several years I've been watching: The X-Files, Red Dwarf, Absolutely Fabulous, VR5 (thanks to a friend who taped them off of FOX for me), Earth2, South Beach (this was a very short lived summer replacement a few years ago), China Beach, The Avengers (thanks to a friend who had them on tape), Kindred: The Embraced (thanks to the same friend who also taped them off of FOX for me), and a blur of 80's things.

This is it, this is life, the one you get...enjoy the view, keep on doing what you do, hold on tight, we'll muddle though one day at a time.

-Opening theme song for ONE DAY AT A TIME (1975)

Loving one that loves you and I'm taking that vow; nice work if you can get it and if you can get it, won't you tell me how.

Overture, turn up the lights, this is it, the night of nights; no more rehearsing and nursing a part, we know every part by heart.

She was working in a bridal shop in Flushing Queens, till her boyfriend kicked her out in one of those crushing scenes; what was she to do, where was she to go, she was out on her fanny...

According to our new arrival, life is more than mere survival and we just might live the good life yet.

-Opening theme song for MR. BELVEDERE (1985)

In 1972 a crack commando unit was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they did not commit. These men promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the Los Angeles underground. Today, still wanted by the government, they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem, if no one else can help-and if you can find them-maybe you can hire the A-Team.

-Opening spoken dialogue for THE A-TEAM (1983)

There's a new girl in town with a brand new style; she was just passing through but if things work out, she's gonna stay for a while.

When the world never seems to be living up to your dreams, it's time you started finding out what everything is all about. When the boys you use to hate you date, I guess you best investigate the fact of life.

-Opening theme song for THE FACT OF LIFE (1979)

All the world is waiting for you and the powers you possess; in your satin tights, fighting for your rights, and the old red, white and blue.
