James Marsters reveals what it's like working on Buffy!

How did you land the role of Spike?
I auditioned once and they liked what I did. I tried a Southern accent, then an English accent and finally a Louisiana accent! That's the one they found sexy!
Your hair is dyed peroxide blonde! Do blondes have more fun?
I have a lot of fun working on Buffy. Actually, I'm always having fun!
Do you get hurt doing stunts?
In the episode called Lovers Walk, I was set on fire and I wanted to do my own stunt. They kept me very safe and it was fun! Although you can still see the blisters on my hand from it!
Do you go out in vamp make-up?
A few Halloweens ago, Alyson Hannigan and I both got made up in a vamp face. I had a leather jacket on with no shirt and the make-up artist created a razor blade gash down my chest! That was fun!
What's there to like about Spike?
He's a sadist and is never happier then when he's killing or hurting people, but when he's in love he's truly sincere. That makes him really beautiful in some way.
He's nothing like you, though?
Actually he is. I'm a funny fellow and I've certainly had great moments of violence in my life, but I'm not Spike.
